Chamomile creates a soft, golden blonde tone with natural warmth — radiant, never harsh. It works by depositing plant pigments onto your hair, enhancing your existing base rather than lightening it. 1 PREPARE YOUR HAIR
To prepare your hair for our organic colour treatment, follow these steps:
- Start by washing your hair twice with a clarifying shampoo to eliminate impurities, product buildup, and residues that could affect the colouring process.
- If you have been using silicone-based products, we suggest using our detox mask before shampooing to ensure thorough cleansing and remove stubborn buildup for even colour application.
- Avoid using conditioner before applying the organic colour, as conditioners can create a barrier on the hair shaft, potentially affecting the colour absorption.
2 COMBINE THE POWDER
To mix the powder effectively, combine it with hot water using three times the volume of water as the powder. Here are the recommended ratios for different hair lengths:
- For root-to-mid-length application, mix 100g of powder with 300g of water.
- For mid-length to full-length application, mix 150g of powder with 450g of water.
- For long hair and full-length application, mix 200g of powder with 600g of water.
Use a whisk to blend until the mixture resembles thick yogurt. To achieve the ideal result, we recommend using water a 50 degrees.
3 APPLY
Apply Rēcipe Botanica colour mix to damp, brushed hair using your hands or a colour brush. To enhance application, it is recommended to divide your hair into sections to ensure complete saturation. Ensure every strand is fully covered with the mud for the best colour results. If necessary, feel free to mix more product; a denser application provides superior outcomes with herbal colours.
4 RELAX
Cover your hair with a shower cap and unwind as the plants work their wonders. For our Blond shade we recommend leaving the colour from 30 to 60 minutes. Feel free to try different timings and make adjustments accordingly. The longer the colour stays on your hair, the deeper and richer your hair colour will be. Since our dyes are completely chemical-free, you can keep them on all day for a more intense colour if you wish.
5 RINSE OFF
After the processing time, rinse your hair with warm water without shampooing. Then, apply conditioner and comb through it using a large comb or brush to remove any plant residues completely. Finally, style your hair using desired products.
6 WAIT FOR 48H
Allow 24 to 48 hours for the colour to develop its full hues. This waiting period will enhance the colour depth and fade any undesired greenish tones, unveiling a stunning shade. Refrain from shampooing your hair within this timeframe to let the colour set effectively.

I was nervous about how this would go over my bleached hair but the colour was rich and warm over both my natural brown and my blonde highlights. My hair has never looked so shiny and healthy. The colour on my greys was a bit hit and miss so I'll leave it on the roots longer next time.

So far am loving this product and am really excited to have found it. I've done two applications in about two weeks on my gray roots and really appreciate how it softens the lines and warms the tone. My hope is to stop coloring my grays and start using this for a more natural look at non-chemical approach to hair color. It's easy to apply, once I figured out all the steps. I do wish the written instructions had been more clear about two things--leave it on more than 45 mins (it does say it can be up to a couple hours but it recommended starting with 45, so I get it that it's better to be safe on the timing). And I wish I had known to save the extra and freeze it! I learned more on the instagram videos which were super helpful. I'm also going to get the blueberry to start blending in a little cooler tones. I just wish I had found this sooner! It's exactly what I was looking for when I started coloring my grays about 3 years ago.

Unfortunately, the result was not as advertised. I consulted the online chat feature and provided photos of my hair and was recommended a colour to use to achieve the results I was after.
After using this product, I was disappointed to find that my hair had become extremely dry and the colour was very yellow compared to the photos on the website.
I followed the instructions as provided by Recipe Botanica and waited the 48 hours before washing my hair. By the second shampoo the hair colour started to fade. 10 days later it had considerably faded and the hair looked the same as prior to applying the dye. My hair remains extremely dry despite applying various hair treatments.
The product is not nourishing as promised on the website. It only provides very temporary coverage and dried my hair out.
I sought advice about remedying my hair post using this product however, I was advised that I cannot dye my hair now using conventional dyes as the colour will not take due to the henna and will need to wait until it grows out entirely.
Sadly, my hair is a mess, and I am embarrassed to go out with it looking like it does and I am now stuck with not being able to fix it. I still have half a packet left and would not dare use it again which means that this one-time application has been very expensive. I would not recommend this product.

My first time using today, no irritation or skin reaction. Thank you!!! Super easy to mix and apply. Clean up was easy too, it didn’t stain my face, neck, ears or bathroom. AND the colour is perfect! Blends my greys with my highlights and looks really natural and pretty. Hair is shiny and silky. I was a little sceptical at first but now glad I tried it. Sending my before and after shoots to recommend it to everyone l know! I’m not sure how long it will take to fade as I need to wash my hair frequently. But I wouldn’t mind retouching regularly as it’s a really simple process. Yay!!! 🙌 And thanks again!

It's been a few months between colours for me while living on the road in a caravan and the natural shade of Chamomille has toned in really well between my natural colour and my previous hair colour, covering a lot of my greys. I'll likely leave the colour on longer next time. So far, I'm loving this product.

I just died my hair for the first time yesterday with a mix or chamomile, almond, and blueberry. I love the result! My grays got covered by 70% but I made the mix a bit too liquid. Will do roots touch up in a week with more thicker mix. My length got a nice cool brown color even with a warm base. I’m so happy I managed to get the cool brown color that I always wanted and even in a hair salon I couldn’t get it. I’ll definitely continue using this product and highly recommend it to everyone!
