Vanilla delivers a soft, creamy blonde tone — natural, refined, never forced.
It works by depositing tone only — no lightening effect, enhancing your existing base rather than lifting it.
Designed for light to medium hair or greys, it creates a beige, neutral, sun-kissed finish that softens and elevates your natural colour.
On grey hair, it blends into a soft blonde veil — diffusing contrast without harsh lines.
On already light hair, it acts like a gloss treatment, enhancing tone, boosting shine, and improving overall hair quality.

1 PREPARE YOUR HAIR
To prepare your hair for our organic colour treatment, follow these steps:
- Start by washing your hair twice with a clarifying shampoo to eliminate impurities, product buildup, and residues that could affect the colouring process.
- If you have been using silicone-based products, we suggest using our detox mask before shampooing to ensure thorough cleansing and remove stubborn buildup for even colour application.
- Avoid using conditioner before applying the organic colour, as conditioners can create a barrier on the hair shaft, potentially affecting the colour absorption.
2 COMBINE THE POWDER
To mix the powder effectively, combine it with hot water using three times the volume of water as the powder. Here are the recommended ratios for different hair lengths:
- For root-to-mid-length application, mix 100g of powder with 300g of water.
- For mid-length to full-length application, mix 150g of powder with 450g of water.
- For long hair and full-length application, mix 200g of powder with 600g of water.
Use a whisk to blend until the mixture resembles thick yogurt. To achieve the ideal result, we recommend using water a 50 degrees.
3 APPLY
Apply Rēcipe Botanica colour mix to damp, brushed hair using your hands or a colour brush. To enhance application, it is recommended to divide your hair into sections to ensure complete saturation. Ensure every strand is fully covered with the mud for the best colour results. If necessary, feel free to mix more product; a denser application provides superior outcomes with herbal colours.
4 RELAX
Cover your hair with a shower cap and unwind as the plants work their wonders. For our Vanilla shade we recommend leaving the colour from 25 to 45 minutes. Feel free to try different timings and make adjustments accordingly. The longer the colour stays on your hair, the deeper and richer your hair colour will be. Since our dyes are completely chemical-free, you can keep them on all day for a more intense colour if you wish.
5 RINSE OFF
After the processing time, rinse your hair with warm water without shampooing. Then, apply conditioner and comb through it using a large comb or brush to remove any plant residues completely. Finally, style your hair using desired products.
6 WAIT FOR 48H
Allow 24 to 48 hours for the colour to develop its full hues. This waiting period will enhance the colour depth and fade any undesired greenish tones, unveiling a stunning shade. Refrain from shampooing your hair within this timeframe to let the colour set effectively.

I have 70% grey hair and have been having it foiled blonde and/or tinted for years. It costs me a lot of money every 5 weeks to maintain my hair it became thin and damaged over time. I decided to stop colouring and let the grey come in naturally since May 2026 - no toner nothing and it looked so gross! My dark blonde hair has a lot of greys - this does cover it when I leave it on for 2 hours covered in plastic (it didn’t work the time I let it dry out). It is a bit more orange than I would like but with toning conditioner I’m overall happy with the result. It’s a beautiful natural product that for me is a great alternative to box dye even if I just use it sometimes on the roots.

This is a beautiful product and worked well for me, in an unexpected way - it softened the look of my regrowth and subtly lifted my natural highlights. My hair felt amazingwards - soft, full and like it had been 'fed'. Loved the matcha-esque smell. I have naturally dark blonde, fine, straight hair. Years of highlights had made it a kind of mono light cool blonde I was not loving. I'd been trying with various hairdressers to return to a shade closer to my natural colour, with a few highlights, but they never got it right. Hoping this will enable me to ditch the hairdresser colour altogether.

Loving Vanillla! have a bright white strip at the front. This colour creates a cream tone that blends nicely and brings a subtle warmth to the rest of my hair. After the colour and cutting my own fringe, I’m able to manage my hair at home and reduce my visits to the hairdresser. I was paying a small fortune on highlights, but like the result with using Vanilla overall.

Probably a great product but I feel it’s not made clear that it’s not for blondes so I wasted $80 unfortunately.

My hair’s naturally quite light, and I’d started noticing a few greys coming through around the front. I didn’t want to change my colour, just soften them so they blend in a bit more.
The colour was easy to apply, left it on for about 45 minutes, and that was it.
Now the greys just look like a soft beige tone that blends into the rest of my hair. It’s really subtle, nothing drastic just cleaner and more even.
It still feels like me, just a little more polished. I’m really happy with it.

I tried a few “natural” colours before but this one is actually natural. It’s got a very nice earthy texture and smell, almost like mud. This is my third time purchasing this colour, and my scalp is getting better with each application (I have psoriasis). I also got a few of their treatments that I am yet to try.
